The useful waste

All the commotion on this planet for the last few decades has eventually brought us in a poor and collapsing situation regarding our environment. It’s no overstatement to say that today we are facing a very real threat of environmental crisis; all because of the vast amounts of waste that we have created in our want for a more comfortable and extravagant lifestyle. Waste management is pressing harder with the alarming signal pressing the industry. In this context, we have got a big role as architects since construction industry produces tonnes of waste every day. Through this design project, we at S.P.A. have innovated and redefined many construction technologies which can now be very well used as reinforcing element for creating green and sustainable architecture.

This can be done in two simple ways: 1. to recycle waste from other industries to be used in construction 2. To use materials in construction which can be recycled for other purposes once their use in the building is done.

Since we have designed the houses for construction workers, many construction technologies are such that once the need for that housing is over the same material can be used in the site thus putting no extra expenses on the contractor. Many construction technologies solve the problem of excessive plastic waste by recycling or reusing it.

Furthermore, rather than creating trivial structures which are lifeless and oblivious, wasn’t our aim to create value through our work?
